Plex does not recognize folders that start with dot "."?

Hi all,
I added a folder called “.NET”, but Plex did not recognize it until I renamed it to “DOT NET”. Is this normal?
The folder is under FreeNas, and Plex is running under CentOS.

Under Unixoid OS’s/MacOS/Linux (that includes FreeBSD), it is defined that a folder or file name starting with a dot is ‘hidden’.
