I’ve been using Plex for a couple years now. When I first set it up I created separate folders for Movies and Home Videos, pointed the separate libraries named as such to those folders, and used the correct naming convention for the Movies folder and everything worked fine. Over the past few months I’m seeing odd things that I can’t explain. Some of my movies are getting stacked and I have to select it and “split apart.” Lots of problems with my personal videos lately which are all named YYYY-MM-DD Title.xyz. Never any problems with those already in the library, just with importing new. Sometimes they’ll come in with the correct name except without the dashes in the date, just spaces. Sometimes they get stacked and I have to split them. Sometimes they’re already split, but multiple files will get the same name and I have to rename them. My understanding, and the way it’s worked from the beginning, is that if I’m NOT using the movie or TV naming convention, then the files in my Home Video library come in with the same name as the Windows filename. I don’t understand why something that has worked fine all along is now taking so much effort to untangle once the files are imported. Any suggestions?
