Hi all, I have spent hours of troubleshooting my network in regards to a limit of approximately 12Mbps when downloading optimised versions from the server to my iPad. By chance I have now managed to work out what is happening… I hoping I’m missing a setting on the client somewhere.

If I leave the iPad on the download screen it will keep at the limited 12Mpbs, however go to the home screen where Plex is now in the background and the speed of the download shoots up to 200+ Mbps.
Bring Plex back in to play, straight back to the 12Mbps, and so it continues.

Therefore, this to me is indicating that the Plex client is in some way limiting the download speed when it is full open and active.

Only problem with putting it in the background to work around this is that it will only finishing the current download by the looks before stopping.

Anyone else had this issue, or is there a setting that I’m missing here.

I have a feeling that this started happening after the update was brought out to keep Plex active and downloading if on the downloads screen.

Come on Plex devs, you must have this happening all over the shop?

I’ve even tried a clean new server now.

If I install infuse over the top, that downloads fine and at full speeds!!
