We are introducing a new 'experimental' video player as an option to allow users to workaround these problematic Android OS releases. A few things to note about the new player: - This option needs to be enabled in the application's Settings, under Video. We've automatically enabled it for users running 4.4.3+ - This video player requires Plex Media Server v0.9.9.13. If you're running anything older, it will fallback to using the original player - It also requires Android 4.2 JellyBean or newer, so users on older versions will not see the option to enable it - The Android TV application will attempt to use this player whenever it's playing from a supported server - Users that did not experience any playback problems will also benefit from it as it has faster load times. FIXES - Fix crash when flinging a slideshow to a remote player - Fix bug that caused secondary servers to be selected for transcoding - Improve error message when sync not possible on a shared servers - Fix bug accessing content served by the Plex for Windows Phone app - Correctly serve image resources when acting as a server for synced content - Fix bug accessing videos hosted on Google Drive - Fix crash when disconnecting after remote control - Fix wrong action bar color in photo viewer screen - Fix bug which prevented PHT instances in the local network from being listed as a remote player - [Chromecast] Don't close Plex on Chromecast when a client disconnects if there are other clients connected. - [TV] Fix bug where overscan settings weren't sometimes applied - [TV] Improve size of cells in TV layout - [GTV] Ignore the extended volume controls - [Camera Upload] Display old servers in camera upload settings - [Camera Upload] Fix out of memory errors when uploading camera photos - [Camera Upload] Prevent camera upload from attempting to happen multiple times simultaneously - [Camera Upload] Fix camera upload ignoring files due to incorrect casing of file extension IMPORTANT NOTICE - Plex launched originally with a preview version of the technology behind Chromecast, the Google Cast SDK. The SDK has since been publicly released as a more stable and secure version, and is part of the Google Play Services. Android devices which don't have Google Play Services, will not be Cast Ready. ---
