Plex for PlayStation 4 v2 beta

Is there any information about next platform update?

Don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but the “rewinding” a video feature is still completely broken.

Video plug-ins do not work at the last update.
There may be a problem in a very short timeout while waiting for the response of the video server IP broadcast.
In the new version it is only 2-3 seconds and then an error message.
It needs at least 15 seconds.
All video plugs presented on this forum are not working now.
No tab plugins in new interface.
It would be perfect if in the settings could configure waiting time for the response of the broadcast server.

I hope we can get soft .srt subtitles on PS5.

Sorry, but the UI that is now showing on the PS4 is a step backwards. I was fine with how it was before.

Just used the new UI last night. How come every time they bring out a new update it gets worse? First there was a button way down the bottom under settings that didn’t do anything when I pressed it. Then I couldn’t get back to the main menu no matter what I pressed. Had to force close it & start again. Next time it just crashed. Start again. Going to my videos now takes so many steps. It used to be so simple before when the different sections appeared down the left side. At least it comes up with my selected filters properly when I go into them. (I have it set to only show unplayed & sorted by date). But now how do I view all of the videos without changing my filters? Disappointed to see the thumbnails still jammed up against the left side. Also still no length of movie showing like it used to show before these last 2 terrible updates. I have to click on the movie, wait it the stuff to appear then go back again if it’s not what I want. Would it be so hard to just include the length under the title like it was before?
It’s a no from me.

The new UI is terrible, No option for All libraries and navigating to all movies or series took me about 10 min to figure out. Please revert as this is not working at all

@Moussa have just been pushed the new Plex for PS4 app. Like other users I find the new UI terrible, takes much longer to navigate to our files.

However, my biggest gripe is that when deleting a video the new UI just sits and spins. None of the controller buttons are responsive. The loading icon just continues to spin. We are then forced to close the Plex app via the PS4 menu to force close. Once we reopen and navigate back to our files, the video we requested to be deleted, has been.

Why is Plex failing to return to the files menu like it used to?

We use the delete feature multiple times a day (up to 10) and can not be expected to waste so much time force closing the app and retuning to our files each time, as that takes approx 2-3 mins depending on loading times. This is unacceptable.

When is a fix coming?

+1 for the new interface being horrible. It went from intuitive to confusing.

@Moussa and if I thought this update couldn’t get any worse, the buffering issue has become a right pain!

In the middle of watching a video Plex decides to buffer and won’t restart playing.

We now have to turn off the PS4 and restart watching the video.

I am getting no more than 2 mins out of a video at the moment.

This is absolutely absurd! What should be a 40 min show is taking forever!

This update is ridiculous and the worst yet!!!

I haven’t had any buffering issues. I’m using the PS4 app to pull videos off of a QNAP NAS, all hooked up with networking cables, nothing wireless. I wonder if the WiFi, the app, the file size or the combination of all are the issue?

I do use the incredibly garbage PS3 app on WiFi, and rarely have buffering once siomething has started and is playing. The odd time the controls pop up, which hints at buffering, but the video/audio itself is unaffected.

The exception to all this is scanning forward, and absolutely scanning backwards. Periodically the scanning forward in a file will cause things to crash as it never buffers out. Scanning backwards in a file is simply completely broken and should rarely be attempted. I blame this purely on the PLEX app since the media player in the PS4 with a USB drive does it fine.

I’ve customized the UI to work for me, but I still prefer the previous upgrade. I liked clicking “Movies” then going to a tab that listed all the movie directories. It helped to hide the porn drive while still having it easily accessible. Listing all the categories down the left side of the screen isn’t as pretty.

I highly doubt it. I am not using the Plex app any differently than the previous one. On the VERY odd occasion it would buffer and continue playing.

Now it can’t go 2-5mins without buffering and it stops working altogether. Others are having the same issue - refer previous comments.

There needs to be an option to roll back for PS4 so we aren’t all stuck with this piece of ■■■■. Whilst the last version was a bit clunky, it worked and we had no issues.

The new one is basically useless for us … we can’t delete or watch shows/videos. Probably going to have to look for an alternative if this isn’t resolved quickly.

I wonder if it’s different types of PS4? I have no idea, but so far I’ve not had any issues like this. No buffering issues, can delete shows. Can mostly search my library. To many starting and stopping of multiple videos in a session can cause it to crash, but a reset of the app fixes it.

Are their different versions of the PS4, as in revisions as opposed to PS4 & PS4 pro? Maybe the devs have a first gen one like I do and the newer ones are causing issues? It doesn’t make sense that I’m not having any of these issues.

Not sure. Could be. I have copied the Plex employee into all my comments about the issues we are having and they haven’t bothered to respond. Makes me think they know of the issues.

Also reading back through the beta app comments, they knew about the issue when deleting and still pushed the update out.

We have the PS4 pro. As I said no issues before the update and then it was just the deleting issue and now the buffering issue has gotten worse over the last few days and making Plex basically useless for us.

Wow I just found a hidden control to pin your sources to the panel on the homescreen. Before it was taking quite a few presses just to get to my movies. Before you had to click on more then plex etc…
So what you do is go to this section where you can see all your sources/folders on the left. i.e movies, music, photos etc… then select the one you want to pin & move left. You should see a tiny rectangle highlight. Press on that & it lets you pin that source to the home screen. Why the hell did they not make this something obvious? Just a + or … or something. There is absolutely nothing there to know it is selectable. At least it is not so annoying to use now. More like it used to be with your folders already showing up on the left. I don’t know what mastermind thought it would be a good idea to have this feature & make it invisible so nobody knew it was there.

The sound does not work on my account or any of my friends accounts. We go to play a movie and there is no sound. I have looked in settings under audio to make sure that I have audio and I do. After I select a movie and it doesnt do sound my whole playstation then doesnt have sound and I have to restart the whole system for it to have sound again. Would love to know why this is happening and how to fix it. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

I have exactly the same problem after the Plex app update on my PS4 Pro. Every movie gives 2.0 stereo instead of the surround sound.
