Now that [Plex HTPC has been released to the forums](https://forums.plex.tv/t/introducing-plex-htpc/703075), I’m creating a thread to replace [the previous feedback thread for PMPv3](https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-media-player-3-0-feedback/548889). Feel free to leave your comments about HTPC here (or start a new thread under the `plex-htpc` tag if you wish). ### Updates Something go bad in an update? Please download, install, run the versions below to help identify when bad (hey, and good) behavior was introduced. Plex HTPC automatically downloads updates while running. The app is then updated next time it starts. This results in an older version being replaced by the latest version. Thanks… The thing is Pillarboxed in a window - and changing that state is probably the most inconvenient thing I have ever witnessed. It seemed to work ok, but I couldn’t take much of it, to be honest. ---

The grey OSD gradient is ugly imo. I wish it was transparent / removed. Taking up over 50% of the image is a horrible trend Netflix introduced and I wish it would not be here. ---

Great start with Plex HTPC! I’m looking forward to really testing it out later today and seeing how it progresses over the coming months/year. I’m sure it will only get better from here and I’m super excited to see Plex putting an effort into the HTPC. Thanks again! ---

Thank you for the development here! For some reason, when I launch the app, my Windows PC turns off HDR. The prior Plex Media Player that I use does not do that. Only closing Plex HTPC reverts back to turning HDR on; if the app remains open (and the media is stopped), HDR remains off. Feels like some sort of a bug? ---

I did a quick test of it this morning and it seems to run pretty well. It looks like I will have to do a little bit of remote control reprogramming but so far it’s a nice solid update. Thanks for the HTPC love! ---

I’m late to the party, but what would have been great is if this supported DirectShow video renderers so we could use madVR with our Plex. ---

DirectShow video for is a must for modern HTPC this is the only way why its better then a Shield TV or Apple TV etc. ---

Quick test on my mac with Avatar 4K. The playback is rather jerky compared to PMP 3 (3.0.0.24 to be specific) where it plays perfectly Both were showing as direct play ---

@blim5001 will you please restart each app, play the same part of the same movie PMP and HTPC, quit the app then share the latest PMP logs and HTPC logs? It would be really excellent to compare logs from a good PMP playback to a jerky HTPC playback. @olegvaravva We’ll be looking into HDR being turned off unexpectedly. Will you please quit the app, make sure HDR is back on again, reproduce HDR being disabled, quit the app, then provide the `Plex HTPC.log` from `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex HTPC\Logs\`? We have a few ideas what it could be, logs would be super helpful. 🙂 ---

soz, seems like I might have been a bit hasty. I realised there was no audio on either version, (it seems core audio had crashed… it does that sometimes.) Restarted core audio and with the sound working the playback on the HTPC version played without the jerkyness. ---

Not sure how to continue from here as I don’t have the package the installer is looking for. ---

I never had 2019 installed. I was able to remove 2017. Could not remove 2015 due to missing package. I tried downloading 2015 from Microsoft, but version was older and won’t allow for re-install, repair or remove. I finally found install for same version that was on my machine and I was able to remove it. After that I was able to install the latest runtime installer from the link OttoKerner provided. However, now one of my other apps (PowerDVD) that I have running on my HTPC won’t load because it is missing a visual c++ runtime DLL. I guess I will look into that later. I really blame this on Plex as the Microsoft Runtimes and packages come from Microsoft and it seems that when you search on Google, plenty of people are having similar issues with the runtimes and missing packages, etc. In any case, I now have Plex HTPC running. I was able to figure out how to get it full screen, but that is about all. So far, it looks nice. I would have spent more of my lunch break checking it out had I not had to deal with the Visual C++ Runtime issues. ---

I guess it is somewhat OT, but Plex plus Madvr would be my dream. As such, I use plex on everything except my largest TV. On that, I use mpc and madvr because it does make an obvious difference to me. ---

Is there an easier way to fullscreen that I’m missing? I can remember myself that \ will fullscreen but no one else that tries to use it will know that by default. It would be good if there was a fullscreen icon somewhere in the player or double-clicking on the video to fullscreen is expected. ---
