Plex Media Player 2 beta. Stop. Simply stop.

Plex user since day 1 with Lifetime Plex Pass. Plex running on Apple TV 4K, Apple TV 4th gen, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Pro, 2 Mac Mini's, iMac, iPad Pro, 4 iPhone's and a QNAP TS-451+ NAS.

I don't say this often but as a customer, I beg you to stop further development of PMP v2 and develop a version of PMP that is stable and has a Plex consistent look and feel. There are so many things wrong with PMP v2 that I even wonder if it was developed by Plex.

What I don't like the most is the disastrous UI that has an inconsistent look and feel with controls that are plain wrong. I mean to click "up" to see library categories? Who came up with that? Also, UI animations for every, single list view. Why? So I need to wait 3 seconds before I can see the last list item on screen? Plex Home Theater shows me every list in milliseconds.

Channels in every other Plex client are their own main category. In PMP v2 beta I accidentally found Channels by scrolling all the way down on the home screen. To be greeted by full-size icons per channel. Joy!

If that isn't bad enough, depending on the weather outside, PMP opens the build in web view or desktop view or whatever it feels like showing that day. And it's so obvious on how to switch views. Not.

As a product manager myself I understand this is a beta. And that you need user feedback to see what works and what doesn't work. This user tells you that PMP v2 beta does not work and that it frustrates rather than delights this user.

If I could “like” your post 100 times and nothing else for a year, I would!!

You’re absolutely right about how messy it is to have to press up to see different libraries… Completely counterintuitive.
I like that it has the web view available though, all the benefits of being able to manage the server and the playback possibilities of a dedicated app

Checked it out V2 with PMP on windows and now with WebOS3. I am totally unhappy with the new UI. Bright and ugly. Looks like an Xbox, not a media player, and Xbox doesn’t even look like that anymore because it was a bad UI design. Most of the people out there are not gamers so why design after them.

Navigation is difficult when you have more than the default libraries of Movies, TV, & Video. Add in Seasonal Movies Seasonal TV and other libraries and it becomes a mess. Always starts in the first library for a media type, nothing like seeing Xmas movies from the get-go.

Oh and the big point, anyone else tries to use it (G/F, kids, mother, or grandmother) they get upset and drag me into to find their movie. I turned it off after a few minutes.

if you look a bit closer, you would see there is a option to rearrange additional libraries to your preference, so if you dont have to see your xmas movie library first, if you dont want to

its a fair comment re kids etc in my opinion, my youngest 4 year old had no issue with navigating in openpht, but struggles massively with PMP, especially been prompted to quit the app as most ‘back’ steps
