I have an Nvidia Shield that has been running a Plex Server for years. I can connect other Plex Player Clients to the Plex Media Server without any issues (Mac, other shield devices, iPhone). However, using the same shield running the server, the Plex Media Player can’t connect to it. It was working just fine (used it for years this way) and today, the player can’t connect. I’ve rebooted just about everything I can think of (and all the other clients can get to the server), but the local client on the same shield can not…
OK… I discovered that on the Shield Media player the plex server was NOT running (according the player even though it clearly was as viewed from other devices). I tried starting it to no avail.
I then noticed that if I further enable ‘Allow Insecure Connections on Same Network’ everything started working as before.
I don’t recall ever setting that specifically.
