Plex Media Server 1.18.2.2015 - Browsing airings in library style view (#10556)

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2015
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.12.2

Love the feature that has returned to Browse airings in Library style view (#10556). This is extremely useful and I missed not having it! However, once I go into this mode, I have not figured out how to get back to being able to access the Guide and DVR Schedule. Every time I select “Live TV and DVR” the browse feature persists. I believe that this is not the functionality you intended.

Again, thank you for returning this feature to the Web Client, which is the main way I manage the Plex Server and Recordings.

It is intended. It behaves just like the other libraries, which all remember which tab was selected at the top.

(If your screen is particularly small, those 4 tabs will change into a drop-down selector.)

I understand the functionality, that it persists like the other options…but I must be missing something… I don’t have the original buttons or any Drop down as you indicate I should…see picture

Which web app are you using? The hosted one? app.plex.tv
Any web browser add-ins interfering?
Which web browser?

I was able to get into this situation (no Recommended, Guide , DVR Schedule, Browse selectors) by:

  1. Navigating to Live TV & DVR → Browse.
  2. Setting filter to Movies, By Release Date, and then selecting a specific channel.
  3. Selecting one of the movies to view its details.
  4. Instead of clicking the back button on the browser, clicking the Live TV & DVR in the upper-left.

This sequence of events left the interface in this state:

I was able to recover though; to do so, I had to click the back button on my browser 3 times to get back to the initial Browse page. I suspect you can do the same, but you may have to go back farther, depending upon how much you’ve been clicking around the interface trying to recover.

I don’t seem to be able to select a channel as the last step of point 2 above.
The filtered view just doesn’t show channel numbers or names.
I can enter the detail view of a movie just fine.

Using app.plex.tv and using Chrome Version 78.0.3904.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I don’t know how to tell if any web browser add-ins are interfering. I don’t have many add ins.

Plex web Version 4.12.2

I did it specifically in this order for step 2:

  • Set the Movies selection
  • Set the By Release Date selection
  • Finally, select Channel from the All drop-down to select a specific channel.

After doing this and selecting a movie, I was able to reproduce the problem by clicking on the Live TV & DVR link (above my server name “mac-mini”) in the upper-left.

Thank you for the work-around Philipsw. I was able to go into my Chrome browser history (Ctrl-H) and select the first time I went into Plex.app.tv today (many hours ago) and I could get back to the 4 button selection in LiveTV & DVR

As soon as I selected Browse, I went into the browse selection that was there the last time I browsed and the buttons were all gone.

Mine recovered fully, but I hadn’t done much browsing around in the interface. It could be that it needs to be unwound rather than bypassed. At any rate, maybe try one or more of the following:

  1. Selecting an even earlier point in your history for the site.
  2. Try resetting customizations: Settings -> (Web Client) General -> RESET CUSTOMIZATION.
  3. Clear the browser cache for the site.

Other than that, I’m not sure. But perhaps now that it can be reproduced some other folks may have other ideas.

Thanks, reproduced. Filing bug report now.

Thank you Otto…

Until this is sorted, you may be able to have full Live TV & DVR functionality with the Plex desktop app:

The local web app is not affected here. So that could be another workaround.

Not sure which is the “local” web app. The problem was the same with all of my web apps (4.12.2 on Google Chrome browser Version 78.0.3904.97)

The local web app is the version you access by browsing to the localhost IP address (127.0.0.1) if directly on the device. Or, if not, by browsing to the IP address of the system hosting PMS:
http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
Or,
https://[IP of server]:32400/web

My experience is that it too can be affected by this issue though. Try the desktop app if you continue to have issues; as far as I know, it’s not affected.

OK, thanks for that clarification. Yes, my local app WAS affected.

I have the same problem. Anyone found a solution to this?

I have tried all suggestions here and I am still stuck in ‘Browse’ mode with
no buttons visible to get me back to ‘Guide’ or ‘DVR Schedule’.

Try opening your browser’s history. Then go back several days to a time before you got into the browse mode.
