# Plex Media Server cannot see my video files

if you’re letting the automounter put things in `/media` – stop. The automounter grants you access when you sign in – excluding Plex – plus it unmounts when you sign out.

If you created new mount point directories for /etc/fstab

- Set permissions of 755 on the mount point directory BEFORE mounting the first time

- verify permissios (755 for dirs, 644 for files) after
