Plex MediaServer keeps consuming too many system resources on my TVS-872XT with 16GB memory. It causes to shut down many core processes on my system or it causes the system to stop PLEX services. After having spoken to QNAP support many times it seem to be an issue inside PLEX. I have downgraded from the latest version of PLEX back to the one in the QNAP store on request of the service desk. I would appreciate if someone can help me debug this issue.
The interesting part is that I am not using PLEX much to view content at the moment and that the issues happen often overnight during indexing etc
High CPU usage will occur overnight during scheduled tasks.
The most intensive processes are optional and are found in Settings → Library
I’d say from that picture that VPTs and Sonic Features are the big users, with Loudness next.
My TS-451+ with an old Celeron J1900 from like 2013 with 8GB of RAM doesn’t go above 60%.
You have a TVS-872XT with a Core i5-8400T and 16 gigs. Something seems wrong if yours is being crushed.
Do you feel like power cycling the NAS before bed and grabbing some server logs in the morning?
What else is your NAS responsible for doing?
I have just downgraded so want to see for a few nights what happens. Here’s the screenshot from support taken last night. Both memory and CPU usage spikes
