all of my albums under plex have a Folder.jpg file, however, for a certain number of the albums, Plex doesn’t find the poster when the library is created (I recreated all of my libraries recently), and even when I hit “refresh metadata”, and then open the album properties and verify that the correct poster is now selected, after a time (I believe this happens when any of the libraries on the server are scanned or have metadata refreshed), the poster goes away.
This is extremely frustrating.
My directory structure for my albums is quite regular:
Genre
Composer
album artist
albums
I’ve verified that only one Folder.jpg file exists in each album directory, that all the files in the directory are in fact tagged with that file, and gone through and edited the tags on several hundred albums to make sure they are consistent using picard.musicbrainz. (Unfortunately, I have to do this by hand, musicbrainz album lookup facility is nearly useless on my classical music collection. It finds only a handful of albums out of about 400, and it’s guesses are really wrong.)
I’ve spent over a week wrangling with Plex server over this issue, and the other one I reported this morning, and I’m really about ready to look for some other solution to host my digital music collection. This is really pretty unusable right now.
BTW, manually adding the “Folder.jpg” to each album so affected doesn’t fix this. I’ve tried recreating the database, completely uninstalling and reinstalling plex, including making sure that I deleted all of it’s files, none of that helps.
