# Plex Media Server Program Stopped Opening After First Use

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf, but it’s been an issue since I first started using the service a version or two ago.

Basically what the Topic says. When I first downloaded Plex Media Server onto my laptop a few months ago, I was able to open the application, choose my file sources, and get it set up. And then soon after that, the application just can’t be opened. It still runs in the background, but I can’t open the app and use its interface. And now all my files have disappeared, and I have to start my library all over, but I can’t because I can’t use the Plex Media Sever app.

I’ve deleted and redownloaded the app multiple times, straight from the website, and from the Windows store. The last time this happened, the only way I could get it to work again was by resetting my entire computer. Not a power reset, a full “wipe the whole thing” reset.

I really don’t want to do that again, so I’m hoping to get some help here. I saw someone else post about this, but the Topic was never solved. Hopefully it gets solved this time.

If you see **Plex Media Server** running in the task tray what happens when you click on that and choose `Open Plex...`

the server is not available from the windows store. That would be the desktop player app which is just called **Plex**.

My task manager does not give the option to open
