I did. and i relogged back in like 3 times now.
tripled checked that my password is correct and it works fine when I login to plex.tv
But the server still has the old password because, when you changed it at plex.tv, you didn’t force log out all the devices (which includes the server).
This is pretty easy to resolve.
Uninstall the package only.
BE VERY CAREFUL HERE
Uninstall and unclaim this server.
“Sign out and unclaim this server. Keep all existing files for future re-installation.”
Do not erase all data. you only want the old login credentials gone.
After this step,
-
Sign out of Plex/web. (to be 100% safe)
-
Install app
-
Open browser and connect to server.
(you will sign in and claim at the same time using your new password)
thank you for the help. its working great so far.
Hola buenos dias ; ha dia de hoy aun no hay compatibilidad PLEX para DS214Play
Gracias
Ever since I’ve updated to DSM 7 and I cannot seem to add any new scanners, I have them in the correct directory and made sure that all accesses as per the guide is provided to the PlexMediaServer account. Is this something common. If not can you please let me know what is it that you need to resolve this.
thanks.
When you say “per the guide”, do you mean that you placed the in the Plex shared folder?
What you’re going to find, at this point in the Preview, is there is missing functionality.
I would not be surprised to learn custom agents are one of them because I had a hard time making PMS work to this level.
PMS, while still in this “Forum Preview” stage is ‘Bare Minimum’ functionality to make certain the basic package work is correct.
As part of our development discussions, there are still unresolved issues with how this will work when complete.
Thank you for your prompt reply, and yes indeed I have placed the scanner under the following directory:
Plex\Library\Application Support\Plex Media Server\Scanners\Series
Please let me know if you gain any further information around this issue.
Thanks again & happy new year.
Per the Preview Thread details:
To recap:
-
We don’t look in the Plex share anymore.
-
We don’t create it during installation. There is no dependency on the Plex shared folder whatsoever.
-
We have completely abandoned it due to the problems created by folks mixing media and PMS internal data in the same share then making grievous errors and blaming Plex for it not working.
At this point in time, all I ask ask is that you wait and give us time to complete our development.
My current tasking for DSM 7 includes:
-
Multi-language support (Prompts and context-sensitive messages in multiple languages)
-
Backup and recovery of a user’s installation.
-
Ability to install PMS from a location other than the local LAN.
-
More much-needed functionality.
These are being undertaken because, thanks to DSM 7 breaking everything and forcing a full re-write, it made sense to add the much-requested and much-needed functionality upfront.
Here’s an example of the multi-language support.
To make these visible, I only needed change the NAS language setting.
The package itself selects the appropriate language.
Here are Danish and German as two such examples. More will be added when folks are back from the holiday break.
Thanks a lot for clearing things up, looking forward for further development in this space.
I got one more question, Is it possible to re-migrate my Plex installation (either via uninstalling-KEEP and re-installing Plex or something like that) that way it could pickup the scanners?
Thanks.
No.
Migration is one-time and one-way.
May I have a couple volunteers for initial read of Multi-language support?
- Spanish
- French
- German
Pre-requisite is you must already have a working DSM 7 installation.
Preferred systems are x86_64 based.
Initial test will be conducted via PM only
TO ALL READING HERE:
PlexMediaServer 1.21.1.3870 is now available.
The download links in the Preview thread have been updated.
In this stage of forum preview, I am introducing:
- Multi-language support for English, French, German, and Spansh.
- Ability to (re)claim the server using a PlexClaimToken (like Docker does)
Multi-language support
-
The Plex Package Center panels as well as the interactive text messages displayed now track the DSM language ( Settings - Control Panel - Regional Options - Language)
-
If your language is not currently supported, it will display in English.
-
Additional languages are planned. This is the initial step
Install using Claim Token
You may now obtain a Plex Claim Token (directly in the install screen) which you then copy & paste into the installer window.
The Installer uses this token to associate it with your account during installation AFTER migration has successfully completed.
Be advised:
- The Claim Token process will force the “Got It” new server window.
- Do NOT panic.
- Any previous account information is removed. All other server data (Libraries and Metadata) is carried forward.
- I have configured the Claim Token process to require confirmation of all information as it associates.
I will gladly adjust this behavior if desired.
32 bit Intel support
I have been able to bring the 32 bit (x86 and evansport architectures) back into the package.
Performance of 32 bit X86 on DSM 7 has not been measured. Patience with it is strongly urged.
Coming Next:
- Backup and restore
- More languages (?)
Is it possible to manually check/clean /volume1/plex
I did the installation of 1.21.1.3870, everything is up n running, but I did get a ‘migration failed’ message.
logfile only shows:

Hello good day The beta Plex x86 for mu DS214Play has just come out, but I can’t configure it, I do everything the tutorials say, I have given permissions to the folder where I have the files and nothing, it tells me that I do not have access to my plex server. Can you help me
Slow down please.
The migration is a very detailed process.
You must follow the migration procedure exactly as it is written.
If migration has failed then the previous DSM 6 information still exists in the Plex share. It cannot be manually migrated.
The migration log shown above is incomplete.
The migration procedure will take quite a long time to perform – depending on how much media you have. On a X86 processor, it might require 1-2 hours to complete and cannot be interrupted.
It is possible to manually clean the Plex share.
ONLY clean the Plex share manually if you truly wish to start fresh.
I have invested a great deal of time & effort to ensure everyone’s server does migrate to DSM 7.
Hello, good afternoon, I have downloaded PlexMediaServer - 1.21.1.3870 - X86 (32 bits, I have followed all the steps as a new installation, but it does not allow me to access my media server
I have given permissions to the folder where I have my multimedia files hosted by the user PMS.
I need more information.
Does it not find this new server instance?
If this is the case,
- Stop Plex
- Go to https://app.plex.tv
- Settings - authorized devices - Server
- Find and REMOVE the old server name (we will bring it back momentarily)
- Sign out of Plex.tv (upper right corner)
- Start Plex
- Open http://lan.ip.of.syno:32400/web
- You should now be greeted by the familar startup / configuration screen.
I have done everything you have told me, and it still does not work, I’ll give you screenshots, if you want I can give you some log
But this is all the logging there is.

Strangely Plex 1.21.1.3870 works flawless.
