While this is not what you’ll want to hear but what you describe could be due to how you have your media structured.

The plex scanner works best when each movie is within its own folder. This is recommended in the plex documation. Having all your movies in a single folder will force the scanner to work significantly harder and slower. Any changes in a folder will force everything in that folder to be rescanned for changes. So if you add 1 movie everything is rescanned for changes.

So the first thing to rule out is your media’s naming. Can you give an example.

Second thing to check is your server version. The version you included above is the Web Client and not server version. Recent fixes have been included in the latest server to the scanner so they might help if your not on the latest.

Okay. At this point sounds like a full set of [server logs](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/) might help debug. Can you perform a scan of your libraries and then upload the [server logs](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/) so we can take a look after it completes.

BTW… Did this just happen today? If so there was a plex api outage early so that might be a cause.

Follow the link in the [server logs,](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/) it explains the how to to get them.

Took a peek at your logs and they all look normal enough. I see when this scan was happening …

`Feb 23, 2022 11:39:16.586 [16180] DEBUG - Scanning Movies using en-US(Plex Movie) with 2453 current media items and 5 section locations in the database.`

… that it was most certainly slow and took approx **12 minutes to complete**.

`Feb 23, 2022 11:53:31.706 [16180] DEBUG - Activity: updated activity 14f7ce83-f44a-485a-81ca-ee1987921e44 - completed 100.0% - Scanning Movies`

However, at this time I can see movies being played including trans-coding so that again would seem normal enough as the scanner might run lower priority while that is happening. Also it was doing a large enough update 2453, at least that what plex picked up.

Later on …

`Feb 23, 2022 12:11:08.487 [16448] DEBUG - Scanning Movies using en-US(Plex Movie) with 1 current media items and 1 section locations in the database.`

which took…

`Feb 23, 2022 12:11:08.655 [16448] DEBUG - Activity: updated activity e96bbf67-ad55-43a9-9366-9b6853802e28 - completed 100.0% - Scanning Movies`

which was fast as no changes where detected.
