# Plex movie stuck at same start point

Server Version#: 1.24.2.4973 (and previous versions) Player Version#: I have a specific movie that starts in the middle of the movie. I can play it from that spot but when I stop the movie or finish it it starts in the same exact spot. It wont let me mark it as played. How do I fix this?

You might have a bad database entry for that movie. Try to [Plex Dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) the file.

Can you grab the [xml info](https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201998867-Investigate-Media-Information-and-Formats) for that movie? Then playback that file allowing it to start from where it wants, let it play for at least 5 minutes, hit pause then stop, grab a new xml. Post both XMLs.

Do you have an android tablet device with Plex on it (or any other device)? I had one show that did this constantly. It seems I had paused playback of the show on the tablet and did not close with the “X” button. I then put the tablet to sleep. That caused the show to constantly show up as in-progress.

You can try putting a timer on “paused” sessions, under Settings \> SERVER-NAME \> Settings \> Network. I terminate sessions paused for more than 2 hours. This may fix that problem, but I don’t know for sure. Since I had this issue happen, I’ve been religious about stopping playback on all devices since then anyway.
