Hi,
I’m migrating from iTunes to Plex.
In iTunes, sorting Albums by Artist, all compilation albums appear after the main artists. e.g Adele albums through to ZZ Top albums, and then Compilations after this.
Copying some compilations into Plex, they appear under Various Artists - at ‘V’, followed by wxyz artists etc. I’ve a lot of compilations and keeping them separate to Artists would be great. Is there a way of achieving this? Have I missed something obvious?! Any advice appreciated!
- You can set-up a new and separate library to separate your various artists.
- Go to https://support.plex.tv/articles/201273953-collections/ to create a collection
- My Favorite since it is easy: Search for various artists, select all, and add to playlist:
Thanks for the options @grhiner - appreciated. I’ll take a look at those. I’m cautious as Plex adds the warning below on the Various Artist tab advising caution amending this field.
I did wonder if leaving the Artist as Various Artists but changing the Sort Artist from ‘Various Artist’ to ‘zzz Various Artists’ could solve the problem and push all the Compilations to the bottom of the page. What do you think?
Warning! Deleting this artist may remove other artists and scrobbles from your library - please handle with caution! Note: You can view albums tagged as ‘Various Artists’ in your library here.
^^ Is what I would recommend.
I am doing the opposite. I’m sorting VA to the beginning of the list by changing the Sort Artist to 00_Various.
Thanks @OttoKerner - reassuring if others are using this method!
