# Plex not detecting chapters on some files

Did you add those chapter markers only _after_ the files have been scanned for the first time by Plex?  
In this case you’d need to trigger Analyze, followed by Refresh Metadata on the item.  
If the item is a local extra, you’d even have to perform a [Plex dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) light with it.
