# Plex not finding a movie

The movie I’m trying to get Plex to find is The Andromeda Strain, from 2008. I ripped it straight from DVD. But Plex refuses to find my movie in my library.
Is there some way to manually Add the movie? Or something similar? I am at my wits end. Normally Plex finds everything, but this movie, plex just outright refuses to say it’s there. no matter how many times I ask it to check the library.
Is there a setting I can change, or something?
Welcome to any and all suggestions.

Mind sharing your specific file naming / folder structure?
Have you already checked if Plex might have mismatched the new file?
- use case 1: by filtering for duplicates and then checking which files are associated to those
- use case 2: by sorting your library by recently added to see if the latest addition might be that movie but mismatched?!

Litterally just named the movie “The Andromeda Strain (2008).mkv” And it’s in it’s own folder, which is named the exact same thing.
Yes, i’ve searched the whole library, and I usually watch the recently added movies to make sure it’s being added. Nothing but the last movie I added.
I’ve had this movie before, but time came to delete it for space. Now I have a bigger hard drive, so i decided to add it back.

Hmm… let’s try this:
1. move the movie folder outside your library folder
2. scan your library for updates and wait for it to complete
3. empty trash / clean bundles
4. return the movie folder to the library folder
5. scan your library for updates

The steps in #3 might help to resolve some lockup where Plex still remembers you had deleted the file (e.g. from within Plex) and wants to avoid re-adding a file you wanted to ignore.

Like how do I empty trash/clean bundles from plex? After all the time I’ve used plex, i’ve never done that. Sorry for my naivete

1. Hover over the library in your main navigation and click `⋮` \> `Manage Library` \> `Empty Trash`
2. Open `Settings` \> `[Server Name]` \> `Troubleshooting` and click `Clean Bundles`
