# Plex not reading local metadata correctly

Hi Otto,

I’ve noted this action suggested in many threads but it simply does not work.

My music is Irish Traditional Music, it usually does not have entries on MusicBrainz etc, for this reason over the last 10 years I have been very careful to ensure that the embedded tags in my music files are correct.

Not only is this ignoring local tags but it is also showing completely incorrect information.

> > Scanner = Plex Music  
> > Agent = Plex Music  
> > Prefer local metadata = checked  
> > Album Art = Local Files only

Music Folder Structure:  
Music  
| Artist Name  
| | Album Name  
| | | Track 01  
| | | Track 02  
| | | …  
| | | Track 11  
| | | Track 12  
| | | cover.jpg

The “plex” user has RWX access to the files.

Yet here is the outcome on Plex:

Here are my settings:

And here is the IDv3 info showing the same Album Artist, Album Name, Artist, all required fields populated and a cover art embedded as well as a separate cover.jpg in the folder.

I have tried the [Plex Dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064), I have even completely removed the library and then readded. Neither works.

Any suggestions?
