Plex not using PCI-E GPU

Hy.

I searched the forum about this topic but I did not find anything specific like this.
So I just built a Plex Media Server.
The config is the following:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte H310N 2.0
  • CPU: Intel i5-9400
  • GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti D5 4G
  • RAM: Kingston 2x8GB DDR4 2666MHz HyperX FURY
  • Drives: Western Digital 2TB Blue 2.5" (a 10TB HDD is coming in the future)

I have a lifetime Plex Pass subscription.
Options looks like this:

  • CPU usage is “Make my cpu hurt”
  • Directory is D:\Plex_Temp
  • Buffer is 120ms
  • Both hardware acceleration is enabled
  • Relay is disabled
  • Upload speed is set to 3000mbps (I have nearly 700-800mbps)

The 4K direct play is working smoothly both on local and remote network. But for some reason the transcode to 1080p (from 20mbps to 8mbps) is lagging. If I switch to 720p everything works fine.
My idea is that Plex for some reason is not using the GPU at all when trying to transcode. But on the dashboard I saw that the “hw” is active next to the video line. The audio is transcoded always to OPUS (I think that’s a problem too).

Any idea how can I fix this? I think the i5-9400 and GTX 1050 Ti is more then powerful for this 1080p transcode and smooth playback.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hy again.
So I tested a lot of things.

I found out that without the HDR tone mapping is successful 1080p/20mbps playback with 2-3 playback at one time. So that’s cool.

But does someone have any idea why this feature is so lagging?

I also found out that the GPU is maybe in use during transcode but with all power. It is only going up with nearly 15% meanwile the cpu is nearly 40%.
Any idea how can I make it more powerful?
