I used to be able to use Plex client to connect to a local Plex Media Server, even in the absence of an internet connection. Did this functionality get forgotten somewhere or is still there, but not obvious?

I ask since recently my internet connection was out for four days and during that period I could not use Plex to access my local media server. I needed to resort to VLC on an AppleTV to be able to watch my movies.

I’ll continue looking (didn’t find anything yet), but the main issue is that I have to log in before I can do anything and if my tokens expired, then I am stuck. The issue is I can’t log in if there is no internet connection.

I I can’t log in, then I can’t use Plex locally. I just tried on my iPhone all I get is a login screen.

It eventually settles down, but the lack of single point resources can be frustrating. I’ve been there, no internet - can’t google anything from a computer so a phone will have to do, but navigating through results and trying “solutions” can be daunting.
