Any idea when the LG Plex App will become free? I have a PS3, PS4, Chromecast, Samsung and LG Tv's. For as long as I can get Plex for free on the Samsung and the Chromcast I just can't justify spending money on anything else (despite it being so cheap). Just wanting to know how long it takes for it to become free; the native TV clients are so much better to use and just 'cleaner' than the chromecast and console ones. Thanks!

No, it isn't available. Please send an e-mail to LG Apps Support, but there is a workaround, set the Regional to any other country, and create with another e-mail an account with the relative country, login and Subscribe to Plex Pass, which I will wait :D

If you have a Plex pass it will work now, if not you must wait a liitle longer, they all be aviable for free (no plex pass) in the future. For now is just a privilige for plex pass user.

Your best bet is to get a Plexpass and then cancel once the app becomes available. Its most likely going to be quite some time before their is a completed app officially released. More than likely not even this year. Personally I would never be without a plexpass, there are just far too many benefits having one.

You do not have a Plex Pass.
Only recently discovered that i could use Plex to stream my pc media to my LG 42LB650 and i've been using it via wireless with the Plex Media Server.
Today i surfed the store and found the app but its Plex Pass only.
Any idea on how long it will take to be free for all ??

Works well! Just discovered that it was finally available for free for the LG last night, downloaded it and it more or less looks and performs fine.
And FINALLY, I have access and use of PLEX CHANNELS ON MY TV!!! YAY!!! 
The two main issues I have are (1) fairly frequent problems with buffering and disconnects with the wireless connection between PLEX and my computer and (2) the ability to use/add trailers and extras to my Library in order to access them to play before my movies in PLEX.
How, exactly, do I accomplish this and how do I place and name the files to be accessed properly?
Other than those, the new PLEX for LG seems great and will likely serve my family very well!

A HUUUUUUGE thank you to Simon J. Hogan for creating his PLEX client (now called PLAYZ). I’ve been using it since early 2014, after I’d just bought my 2013 LG TV and discovered PLEX, but found that it wasn’t available for my set. Simon’s version of PLEX worked AMAZINGLY, was seamless with the PLEX software on my computer and made my whole “Smart TV” experience all the more exciting!
I even had friends who jumped on the PLEX bandwagon after they saw Simon’s app in use on my TV! They’d never seen anything like it before, with its ease of use and graphic interface!
Simon put an incredible amount of blood. sweat and tears into creating and maintaining PLAYZ, and he deserves every bit of thanks and kudos that comes his way, for helping so many people enjoy their multimedia collections to the fullest! Many thanks, Simon!!!
The native app works very well and is a neat / tidy interface. As with robinzson above, I get wifi issues in which either Plex stalls or I have to lower quality or the TV completely drops wifi. Annoying but not too frequent.

Hi James - I’m from Oz - found it easily enough and downloaded it when announced on 30 October. This is what was announced: ''Smart TV and Android TV apps now free! And more…After some quality time with our Plex Pass members as an early preview, our Android TV and smart TV apps are available to everyone absolutely free, joining the ranks of our other free big screen apps like Roku, Tivo, Chromecast, and Xbox 360!"
I have found though that I need to constantly sign in - twice - using a 4 digit pin/passcode generated by the LG TV. I have to go to www.plex.tv/pin and access my already signed in account. The it works until I either shut down my computer or TV. Next time I have to do this all over again. This is a bit nasty given many of us paid for Simon Hogan’s pretty smart PlayZ app. There is a trick too in settings that suggest you can sign in automatically - thereby bypassing the code but it does nothing.
I would happily pay for Plex Pass but having read a few forums it seems that is no guarantee of bypassing the code. It is a bit slower than PlayZ too on my rig. Big disappointment really given their hype for it all.
