A week ago I had zero issues playing av1 encoded files and this week, those same files fail entirely on xbox. I don’t see any indications from plex or microsoft that support was removed. I have multiple xboxes and all behave the same. Does anyone else have this issue?
Same issue here.
Direct Play gives black screen with audio. If I turn off Direct Play and try to force a transcode (not ideal, but better than nothing AV1 files just show white and garbled upper section.
PC playback using the Windows app works just fine and my low powered Roku (last-gen) manages to play fine too.
I’m at my troubleshooting end of line.

I tried a ton of things and nothing worked. I tore down the plex server and rebuilt it and everything worked again. There were a lot of suggestions about beta builds being iffy on transcoding but I wasnt running a beta.
I can’t say I ever really noticed if AV1 was an issue on the Series X we use for Plex before but I definitely noticed it didn’t direct play when recently trying it as well.
