# Plex Pass - hw transcoding and associated server

Hi,  
I’m interested in get a Plex Pass, mainly for hw transcoding. I’ve installed Plex server in my Qnap ts-251+ that’s hw transcoding capable, but I in setting-\>server-transcender and showing advanced option, I don’t have the option to enable the hw transcoding. Is it visible only with the Plex Pass?  
An other thing I would like to ask is, if I enable the Plex Pass, and I would like to replace my server, do I have to buy the pass again or is it associated to my account and I can choose for which server use it?

The option is only visible with a Plex Pass.

Don’t expect to do 4k transcoding with that nas.

Plex Pass is on the account, you can operate several servers .

It is tied to your ID, I have built I bet 20 test plex servers over the years to test new features and troubleshoot bugs etc. you just log in.
