You make it sound like the remote watch pass is only usable by YOU when it clearly says you can share your libraries with friends who don’t even have the plex pass: “Perfect if you may not need the full feature offering of a Plex Pass, and are looking for a cost-effective option to stream your media—or libraries of friends and family who don’t have Plex Pass—from anywhere, on any device.”

Please re-read what you quoted.

It says you can stream remotely from your server or any server shared with you, whether or not the server owner has a Plex Pass.

It does not state your Remote Watch Pass allows others to stream from your server without their own Remote Watch Pass or Plex Pass.

That is what I signed up for and it worked great until last weekend.

Today, we’re writing to let you know that starting March 23, 2026, remote streaming of personal media will require a Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass on Plex for Smart TV devices. This includes Plex running on supported TVs like Samsung, LG, Vizio, and more, as well as PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles.

Prior to March 23rd, the requirement for a Remote Watch or Plex Pass applied to mobile apps, Roku devices, Plex Web, & Plex Desktop. As of March 23rd it also applies to Smart TV clients.
