# Plex player "open video file" doesn't play any file

I am using the latest version of the Plex Player for Android on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Tablet.
Video files were copied directly from my Plex Server to a local SD card on the tablet. All video files display properly when streamed from the Plex server to the tablet. All video files display correctly when accessed on the sd card when accessed by alternate players. None of the video files display at all when accessed by the Plex player via “open video file”.
Since i know the video files are supported by plex and the local files display correctly with alternative players, logic suggest the issue is with the Plex player itself.
Any suggestions that would allow the Plex player to play video files on the local storage device?

The Plex App is a Plex client. Not a video player.
It plays media which are hosted on a Plex server. Your phone doesn’t have a Plex server.

This article on the offical Plex site titled “Opening a Local Video File (mobile)” indicates the Plex player can play local files.
