Plex Remote Access after update (Docker/Ubuntu) – status flapping / intermittent hotspot access

Hi everyone,

Today I updated Plex Media Server on my Ubuntu homeserver (running Plex in Docker) by doing a docker compose pull and starting the updated container.

Locally on my LAN everything works fine and I can stream movies without any issues. However, I noticed that under Settings → Remote Access Plex sometimes shows a red exclamation mark (“not available outside your network”). At that moment I also couldn’t access the server from outside (tested via my phone hotspot).

Without changing anything, remote access started working again later. But the status keeps flipping, and right now remote access is not working again — hotspot access fails and Plex shows the red warning in Remote Access.

So at this point it’s not just the UI indicator being wrong; the external connection really seems to drop intermittently.

Has anyone seen this after an update, or can suggest what I should check (logs/settings)?

My remote access just turned red with a ! as well. Remote access seems to be working but the Remote Access tab says “not available outside your network”. I restarted the server service but it didn’t fix it. I’m running 1.42.2.10156 native on Trixie.
