Does “after Windows reinstall” mean that you also removed/deleted the [Plex data folder](https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/)? Then I assume Plex is busily downloading all the metadata and recreating all the media anaylsis. Which can get quite taxing on the CPU, particularly when done one a whole library. But in any case: a throttling CPU is a _hardware_ issue. Always. Reasons can be manyfold. From aged (dried out) cooling paste, to skewed coolers, to improperly applied cooling paste, to generally under-dimensioned cooling system – there are many possbilities. ---

I’ve backed up the plex folder and all my libraries were migrated. Now multiple plex script host processes are sometimes running at the same time, and everytime there is one, it has very high power usage. I’m sure there is some info in the logs. ---

I performed a machine switch last month myself, and I don’t see the issue over here. I can only assume that you have either not copied the data competely (common mistake: copy while the source server is still running), or that you might have access permission issues to the copied files and folders. Best shut down Plex server, then reset the permissions of the [Plex data folder](https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/) and make sure to give the Windows user account which is running PMS full access permissions to each older, subfolder and all files therein. Here is a tool to do this faster [Resetting NTFS files permission in Windows – Graphical Utility – lallous' lab](http://lallouslab.net/2013/08/26/resetting-ntfs-files-permission-in-windows-graphical-utility/) Checking the database for health and performing a precautionary repair can’t hurt either. When running the .bat file for the plexDBrepair, a Command line windows pops up for a second then closes. Any ideas? ---

The script looks in the default location for the [Plex data folder](https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/). If you have relocated it, edit the script to point to the correct location. (If you have relocated the folder, I hope it is still on a _local_ drive.) ---

Hello! Hopping back in this thread because I just had the same problem: About 10 Plex script host each taking 10% of my CPU so that I can’t watch a youtube video without it lagging every second. I will try again PlexDBRepair, but I am wondering if there are other solutions. Should I just delete the whole server? I only value the collections, and probably the metadata but I could do without it. I just don’t want to burn up my cpu. Thanks! ---
