Plex Server claims it's remote despite being on the same network as local devices

Hi
I’ve set up Plex Remote for when I am at work and have a few minutes to watch some training videos back at home. However when I am at home the Plex server will always report as being ‘Remote’ I can access the server from home but if there’s something requiring high bandwidth I get blocked. I think it’s also causing issues watching plex from things like my Playstation.
So far I have tried to set an IP to allow anything on my IP range but not sure if you mean subnet mask of /24 or by the full address of 255.255.255.0. Any advice would help me out as it’s somewhat annoying when a video reports it’s too big to watch.

Don’t use Microsoft Edge as web browser to load up the Plex Web app. It will always show the local server as remote.

Use Chrome or Firefox.

Here is another thing to try, if these other browsers and /or other devices show the same issue:

Hi, I normally use Chrome but can give Firefox a go just in case it’s that. I’ll also take a look at the other discussion. Apologies I didn’t spot it, was super tired when I posted this one.

I’ve just noticed exactly what you have pointed out that the Microsoft Edge browser will show the local server as Remote while the Chrome browser and the Firefox browser will show it to be Nearby.

Can you explain why that happens?

Even the unsupported Internet Explorer browser and the Opera browser will show a status of Nearby.

Edge has an extra filter in it to thwart ‘DNS rebinding attacks’.
This would be commendable, if the implementation of this wouldn’t be so simplistic that it blocks Plex’s (completely legit) use of the DNS system as well.
Microsoft have been informed already about this, but so far haven’t improved their filter.
