# Plex server Dashboard not showing transcode in progress

I’m playing a movie on my Shield TV with a DTS-HD MA audio track and the client is reporting the audio requires transcoding. The movie plays fine but I noticed the server isn’t reporting that any transcoding is going on. According to it, both the video and audio are direct stream. Looking in Tautulli it is saying the same, although it can apparently see the container (MKV) is being converted to MKV, which itself seems a bit odd, but all streams are listed as direct stream.
But the transcoder is definitely running on the server and there are .ts files being generated. As mentioned, selecting playback info on the Plex client lists the playback as transcoding due to the audio.
So yeah, just wondering why Plex is apparently not able to see the transcode it’s doing or is audio conversion not seen as transcoding?
