When i try to set up “Movies” in the server I cannot find my Usb stick path to access the Movie files. I am using a raspberry pi 4.When I try to search for the drive I am not able to search for the drive on the computer,the only path shown is /var/lib/plexmediaserver. I had previously set up plex on a laptop,everything worked ok,now on Pi everything is a struggle to set up. Waching set up on youtube looked a piece of cake,but this is driving me mad. Heeeelp ---

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping the answer would be less complicated,I do not really understand command line stuff.I can follow along to some extent,but a lot is confusing. ---

If you’re not the resident PC fixer and you’re diving into Linux for the first time, Buckle in, it’s gonna be a hell of a ride. Not that it’s difficult, just time-consuming and definitely not as easy as using a windows based server. Honestly, I would recommend you find a cheap older slimline PC and just run windows. I had a Linux-based server a few years ago. as much as it was more stable. when there were issues, it took me longer to resolve them. With windows, if there is an issue, the troubleshooting takes way less time. May I ask why you are moving to Pi for your server? ---

I want to use Plex,so a low powered unit that i could leave on all the time would be ideal. ---

Here is a happy Medium @highburyjack , Check out possibly using a NAS if you want low power running all the time. Today’s Low powered thin clients don’t need a lot of power and if you’re not sharing content with ppl outside of your home and will be direct streaming, you can find very low-powered solutions that run windows and won’t burn a lot of energy.
