# Plex Server For Mac

Player Version#:

Hello I am in the process of installing Plex media server on a friend’s imac running osx El Capitain. The latest mac version (plex) will not install due to El Capitain being an old operating system. Can anyone tell me what is the latest mac version of Plex that will run ok on El Capitain?

El Capitan is 10.11.

[Plex Media Server](https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/) will install on OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later.

[Plex for Mac](https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-app), which is a Plex client, requires 10.13 (High Sierra) or later.

GateKeeper maybe preventing you installing Plex.
