# Plex server not seeing a movie

HI all, I have PMS running on a windows 11 machine. I have a movie file that its not seeing after clicking Scan Library Files. the file is called Kill Bill vol. 2.mkv. why wouldn’t it see it?

The movie was probably mismatched and possibly merged with another one.
You could filter the library for Duplicates and use the „Split Apart“ option. Alternatively you could switch to folder-mode, navigate to the movie folder to see what item Plex thinks is in that folder (assuming you’ve stored the files in their own movie folder).
This can happen if the file name isn’t a close-enough match to the movie title (or too close to the title of another movie).

@jvpix.com with that filename possibly containing a keyword for a multi-part file, I would recommend renaming it to the ideal plex format. `Kill Bill - Vol. 2 (2004) {imdb-tt0378194}.mkv`

I figured out why this was happening. its because I already had a copy of the movie in 1080p. this new file is in 4k. but I have my movies arranged by “date added” so its putting the movie all the way down further in the library. I want it to be at the top. so I deleted the 1080p copy, moved the new 4k copy out of the folder. then did “scan library files” to remove the new version. then added the new version in the folder and did another “scan library files” but it still puts the movie further down. how do I get it at the top?

Take both out, rescan, empty the trach and clean the bundles, rescan again, add the file you want, rescan.

Under settings, server, manage, troubleshooting
Clean Bundles - Poster images and other metadata for items in your library are kept in “bundle” packages. When you remove items from your library, these bundles aren’t immediately removed. Removing them can reduce the size of your install. By default, your server will automatically clean up old bundles once a week as part of Scheduled Tasks.
Empty trash gets rid of references to deleted listings.
