Just wanted to share something I’ve been working on & finally finished. Is an windows app you run & it will let you set the plex server to sleep & wake when someone opens up a plex app on any device anywhere to try & stream from your server. And then configurable to put back to sleep after x minutes of plex inactivity. The reason for this, is to save electricity & the lifespan of your hdds. I found out my plex server left running 24/7 uses 3.2kh/h of electricity a day. So this should drastically reduce this & also prolong the life of your hardware.

It won’t go to sleep mid movie watch or if you’ve paused it. And also has settings protect other services scheduled, like disk checking to fix & keep the HDD healthy you might have set for one a week or month.

You will have to make sure no other devices wake your system or software. Best way to test this, is to put your system to sleep & try & open plex on another device, if it wakes it up, you don’t need to change any settings in your router or network adapter.

At the moment, it’s only for Windows, but I’m in the works for a Linux version & a Mac, though a Mac may take a little longer because I don’t use apple products & don’t know anyone who does.

It’s on my web store atm & it uses your google auth to verify purchase. Simply sign in using your google account. No info stored & payment info uses paypal & no personal info stored, not even payment details.

Just head on over to [owlife.uk](http://owlife.uk)

So to admins/mods. If this breaches the forum rules in any way, I apologise. I did look but couldn’t find anything related.

Maybe a good time to review the guidelines for using Plex’ name, icons etc. to avoid conflicts.

To help clarify how the “Plex” name, Plex’s logo(s), trademarks, and more can be used, we’ve had information available under the “Trademark” tab on our [Legal page](https://www.plex.tv/about/privacy-legal/plex-trademarks-and-guidelines/) for quite some time. Casual browsers of the site might miss that, though, so here are some highlights that should be useful for all of our community developers (these are only excerp…

Ah thanks. I will update the app & repackage it with a new name Sleep Manager for Plex Server, as having For Plex is acceptable as a suffix. Thanks for letting me know 🙂
