Plex stops after an hour, loading....

Hello,

It happens every time I watch a movie after about an hour.  Movie stops like its trying to load. If I go back to the movie main screen and resume then it plays fine again for another hour.  Any thoughts?  My hard drives are set to never go to sleep.  The PC I am using is more than adequate. Hard wired PC top Netgear R6200 router to Xbox One.  50 Meg cable internet connection. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am getting something similar.  Right around the 55 minute mark, it starts pausing for about 5 seconds, then plays again for another 15-20 seconds, then another pause, etc.  I'm pretty sure it's happening every time.  Like you, if I exit out of the movie and restart it, it works fine again.

Any DHCP renewal on your network or other leases that may be expiring?

I am having the same problem after about 20 minutes on my Xbox one but it's also happening on my roku 3 after a few minutes.  It's driving me nuts. nothing on my network has changed. It started after upgrading to the 0.9.11.4 server

Same problem here. Can watch around half an hour, and then the film just freezes.

When I exit back out, then select resume, the move will start playing fine again for around half an hour/20 minutes, then I need to do the same thing again.

What’s the specs of your server?

I have a Intel g620. Having the same issue with large (10 gigs +) movies, no problem with smaller TV show files.

My server is running Windows 7 on an Intel Core i7-2700K 3.5GHz with 16GB DDR3. Running Server to Netgear R6200 straight to my Xbox One. My files are Mp4 and most are 4.5gb, some up to 20gb. Can’t believe my server is to slow? Still having this issue.

Mine stops after about 1 hour and 40 minutes, restart the app. on the Xbox One and the movie runs fine till the end.
Seems that a memory buffer fills up, do not no if its on the server or on the xbox.
Please help .......

New developments, no more subs after 1.5 hours.
Source is a bluray rip (MKV) with PGS subs, a MKV with SRT subs plays fine.
The Bluray rip plays fine on the PC (IE11) with PGS subs.
Please help, I transferd's all my Bluray to MKV with MakeMKV.

Similar issue here.  I don't have the timing down....after a while, mine will start to pause for a second every few minutes.  Stopping and restarting the video typically resolves for a while.  This did not happen prior to the last update for me.  It also does not happen with playing the same files from my Samsung TV which is also on a wired connection through the same switch.  I think it's client related...Nothing else has changed in my setup since the last update.  Same server version.

IMO...Server and network performance may affect the variability different users are seeing...but I don't think it's the root cause as for me this seems to be isolated to my Xbox One client post update.

It's worth checking if this occurs with other clients (roku, chromecast or even web) to see if this is a server or XB1 issue. Obviously neither are great, but it would be good to narrow it down.

In situations like bschiav, where you only see the issue on xb1, could you please post a PMS log and details of when the problem occurred. Thanks!

Last night, I was watching more episodes of the same encode of a TV series.  I used the Xbox Media Player served from my Plex Server.  Thinking that would be good way to isolate the client on the same device, and the video was direct stream compatible.  I noticed that the video began playing much quicker, and there was no pauses experienced for the length of the video (~1 hr).  I can try and remember to come back and post logs when home (I'll just have to do a quick search to figure out how to do that).  Tonight, when I watch the next episode I'll try the Plex app again to see if the stutters are still happening.

I have this same issue on my Xbox One, Chromecast and sometimes, Roku. I think it started happening when the new transcoder was released. It really only happens on movies I've noticed, TV shows it doesn't happen, I guess it's only when it's a long video is when the issue happens. And just to clarify I get about 60-70% into something and then it has to buffer. Stopping the stream and going back into it resolves the issue.

I've tried to increase the transcoder default throttle buffer to 300 seconds, doesn't seem to help. I guess I could turn it off to see if it's a throttle issue.

Hardware and network is plenty fast:

Server: 8 Core AMD FX, 32 gig RAM, RAID 5 for storage

Network: 2 gig NICs teamed to a 3560G switch, Wireless AC to the Xbox One.

Last night I played another video through my Plex on a Samsung smart TV, no issues, the file played through to the end with no pauses.  I played another file from the same series encode tonight.  From the XB1 app, 22 min in it paused for a second, then resumed playing.  It also stuttered at 25min, 26min, and 28min.  Then I hit stop, and tried to restart the video.  I chose to resume from where it left.  It hung at a black screen for a while ( I let it go only about 20 secs).

I then closed the app and launched the same file from media player, using the Plex DLNA server.  I skipped ahead to 28 min and finished the balance of the hour with know pauses.  I didn't touch the Plex server, hardware, or router at all in between. Just simply switched to the other apps to play back the video.

The files are MKV's, so I assume it's remuxing for the app.  And doesn't have to do this through media player... but still... I didn't have this issue in the past.

Here's my logs.  Let me know if I'm not attaching the logs correctly.  I just navigated to the logs folder, and zipped them up.
