Nvidia Shield
For the past 6 weeks, I have noticed, when I select subtitles on playback, the movie does not load, If I deselect the subtitles, the movies loads and plays, (without subtitles).
This happens for anything that a subtitle is selected, can anyone help?
The EX4100 is not able to transcode. It’s just not powerful enough. The Shield should be able to direct play subtitles, but it depends on the situation. There’s also a subtitle option in the shield client if subtitles should be transcoded or not, if you have this to always, then it will always trigger a transcode which your EX4100 can’t do and will stop. I would have expected a warning message appear saying that your server is not powerful enough to transcode.
To be sure, you’ll need to recreate the playback attempt then provide the logs from the Plex app on the Shield and your PMS.
