Plex Upgrade Changed Things-Help Requested

I was on a very stable past version (1.8-something), when one of the kids saw an update was available… Now, I have a couple of things I could use some help sorting out.

  1. In Settings>Web>General, automatic sign-in and Theme music will not stay selected if the computer is shut down. Does Plex not keep these settings?

  2. I no longer have the gear (Settings) icon in Playlists. It’s now a grid symbol that does nothing. I seem to remember I had this problem when I started using Plex. I checked my past posts, and I did ask about it, but no answers.

I did solve that by going from IE to FF. I’d been using Waterfox for some time, since. Thinking changing browsers again would solve this, I tried IE and Edge. All three still have the grid, and none save the settings in question 1.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  1. that is saved in browser data. if you have your browser set to delete data after quitting then it will get erased. settings are per instance. going to app.plex.tv and IPofcomputer:32400/web are two different instances for example

  2. “Import from iTunes” which was the only thing in that gear menu ( if we are talking about same thing) is in the ellipses menu next to Playlist the way other library options are

OK; I’ll check browser setting. However, there is no ellipsis.

I took a couple of pictures; hope they display.

I have the ellipsis in every other category.

can you please try https://app.plex.tv

I went through your link, and there’s still no ellipsis next to Playlists.

When this update occurred, I deleted the old library, cleaned all bundles/trash, and then deleted iTunes and started over fresh. I left the movies and TV shows as they were prior to the upgrade.

I reinstalled iTunes, and imported the playlists; all went fine. I then set up the new library in Plex. I selected “Import playlist from iTunes”, and they all showed up and play well.

Thank you again for any help.

Any other suggestions what to try? The log-in was the settings in Waterfox, but I still have no ellipsis next to Playlists or the gear icon on the page of playlists. As I periodically add music to playlists in iTunes, I have no means of importing them.

The second link might be helpful. I’ll look into it, later. Thanks for the help. Maybe I should make a basic library, after everything finishes running?

I deleted my Music library in Plex, then cleaned all bundles/dumped trash. I deleted iTunes completely, even deleting the stuff that’s not removed, like the iTunes folder in the PC’s Music folder and the local and roaming files in Users.

I re-booted my PC and did a fresh install of iTunes. After everything finished, I started Plex and created a new Music library. I pointed Plex to D:>Music>iTunes and chose Premium library. I also selected “Import From iTunes”, like I always do. There is still no ellipsis.

Things were perfect, before. In the Playlists page, there was the Settings icon. Clicking on it gave the option to import playlists from iTunes and over-write the old ones. Now, if I add anything to a playlist in iTunes, it seems I’d have to delete the Plex music library and re-scan.

Screw this-I’m going back to the old version. At least I can import amended and new playlists at will.
