Hi guys, so we set up a plex media server with all the videos of the kids from brith , christenings , xmas videos and stuff on there, and we have added pretty much most of the family so they can view these, and various different devices from ipads to android smart phones, and all work maybe about 12 devices in total, bar 1.
My father in law wanted to watch the 4k videos of when our first was born when everyone met him for the first time.
So he went out and bought a brand new LG 65 inch 4k tv with web os. We downloaded the latest version of the plex app, made him an account, sent him an invite and logged him in.
He can use plex, and all thier offerings, bar our server. It comes up unable to connect or the server is offline, when its now and we can use it on our mobile phone when at his house.
I have reconnected the tv to wifi, made sure both tv and app are up to date, changed my settings on the server to see if setting it to allow unsecure connections and still didnt work.
Its running web os 05.80.50, has plex version 2.1.3, can anyone help or have come accross this
That is the correct version for older LG TV’s running WebOS 1.0 or recent LG TV’s that are not 4K. You mentioned the TV is a newer 4K unit running a recent firmware. If that is the case, the app in the store should offer you version 4.x. Were you going just off of the link you provided? Please check on the TV itself.
There’s another report of a LG TV running firmware 5.x and our app is saying something else. I’m checking with the team to see if we are somehow not detecting this properly.
My LG 2018 OLED 4K TV also says it’s running 2.1.3. I have all kinds of Plex connection issues with it. Everything else about the TV and the network works great (netflix etc.) No other devices on my network have Plex connection issues. On Plex Web it shows my LG as 4.27.1.
Were is everyone concluding the version 2.1.3? Is it in the LG content store, If so that is the loader version only. To find the correct version it will be found in Server settings/ Authorised Devices. (Click on image to zoom)
Can you double check your about page on your TV? There should be an exact line saying the WebOS version. For the other user, their TV was using a newer firmware but still an older WebOS.
So I went in and changed it to work on unsecure connections and set the server to allow it and still nothing, even logged in with my username same issue!
What up address do I use I assume that will constantly change as it’s just my pc at home ?
I was just pointing out that the LG content store showed 2.1.3 while the Plex Server showed another version. I’ve added my server IP to manual server…still get Plex app loading issues and -337 network errors on my TV Plex app.
I typically have to try to open up the Plex app on my TV 2 or 3 times before it will connect…then it will lose connection after about 30 seconds to a minute and display error code -337. While it is working…it’ll play 4k HDR movies not problem.
SE56: what Server device are you running? I’d guess it’s an issue with the combo Plex Server on nVidia Shield and the LG app. This issue is semi new. It didn’t used to do this. Now, it’s very reproducible. If I reboot my Shield, and try to connect to open Plex on my TV, it will fail to connect the first time(show the -337 error page)…every time. Then it will connect when I “retry”. But then it will re-show the -337 error page 30 seconds to a minute later.
When I started having this issue a few PMS versions ago…i tried to delete my LG TV as an authorized device on PMS…then re-add it. When I re-added my TV…it wouldn’t show up in PMS as an authorized device even though it was connected. I had to factory reset my TV…then re-add it to make it show up…but I still get -337 errors.
No other device has any connection issues with Plex on my network and youtube/netflix can stream in HD on my TV just fine…so it’s not a network problem. My TV didn’t used to have this issue with previous Server/client combos either.
sad to here your LG is unusable, I will attach a screenshot of my Network settings. I’m not sure if these are available on the Shield.
Also I have found my network has been very stable since Reserving /Static LAN IP addresses in the router. Consumer grade routers are doing a lot of work these days and reserving address simplifies it’s duties.
Thanks, but I bet it is related to this from the console:
“Unable to find client profile for device; platform=webOS, platformVersion=4.1.0, device=, model=OLED65C8PUA”
This error is displayed about every 10 seconds now when I play something.
I previously wasn’t getting this error on the console…but after rebooting EVERYTHING on my network and unplugging for 30 seconds…I tried to reconnect my LG TV. First, it failed like it always does the first time and showed the -337 error…then it connected and started giving me the above error in the console, but it no longer is disconnecting.
Thanks. Issue came back today. Playing something is not required. It will show the -337 “Check Network Connection” error when playing or just in a Plex menu. Of note, when playing, it goes to the -337 page immediately…there’s no buffering displayed or anything like that. Plex Media Server Logs_2020-03-18_12-36-13.zip (2.8 MB)
