# Plexamp Desktop doesn't cast to Chrome devices?

Everything working smoothly except one thing. My Windows Desktop Plexamp player can’t see any of my Google Home / Chromecast devices. It only shows my nVidia Shield as being capable of casting.

No problem casting from within the browser, but I presume that being in Chrome solves that.

Is this just a limitation of the desktop player? Or do I have an issue?

AFAIK, the Chromecast protocol is a Google “thing”.  
You can only use it when using a Google environment. Which can be either a Google/Android phone or a Google web browser.

Plex(amp) running on Windows is neither.

If you had a device which can run Plexamp, you could use Plex’s own protocol, named Plex Companion. [Plexamp on the Raspberry Pi](https://forums.plex.tv/t/plexamp-on-the-raspberry-pi/791500/1)  
This one has the advantage that you don’t need to keep the controlling app running, once the play queue has been started.
