# Plexamp direct connection to remote server

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685  
Player Version#: 4.12.2

In Plexamp on android, is there a way to configure a direct connection to my remote server, bypassing the [Plex relay](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/) service?

There’s no option to enter your server’s public IP / a manual connection.  
The client won’t usually require a [Plex relay](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/). It’s checking your account for linked servers and should then automatically connect to those (no traffic through Plex). A [Plex relay](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/) might only be involved if there’s a problem with your remote access setup.

Although I’m currently experiencing [some problems](https://forums.plex.tv/t/how-can-i-unlock-pms-with-tailscale-on-qnap/911951), you might want to try Tailscale. Check out this video.

Thanks, good to know. From reading the documentation it seemed the relay was a normal part of the process.
