plex had a problem with DNS recently. there have been multiple posts on it. including this one. [DNS Resolution for plex.tv gone flakey - #2 by OttoKerner](https://forums.plex.tv/t/dns-resolution-for-plex-tv-gone-flakey/858774/2)

supposedly fixed already but people keep posting more dns issues. possible your provider still has plex shut down for some reason .
