The “waveform” navigation bar (from the full player mode) is sorely lacking when in the Album/Song view. Replacing the 1pixel-tall progress meter, with that same waveform navigation, would be a killer improvement. seeking should not be relegated to a multi-click process, that feels so strange to me when scanning through music. Thank you!

It’s quite difficult to “scan through” an album currently, as that scrubbable progress bar is on a different screen from the Album View. It involves constantly switching between different screens, when you could have it all in one place. Would be a great option in the Experience section, toggleable.

Maybe you want to try the Preview Buttons?
Settings - Experience - “Show Preview Buttons”

Ah, i see. Thanks for the suggestion, that mini-player is meant to be mini.

The example image doesn’t really work for mobile cause it’s just to cramped and you can easily just adjust the timeline by opening the player. But I can see this being more useful on desktop because it has some much more screen real estate that the mini player is too mini minimalist.

So I came up with this:

 ![Mini Player](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/6/0/4/60482407714b6969e35981a4c6aa86074ef637df.jpeg)

Because Plexamp is scales really well, this already exists when you resize the window to be very small. But this would be a lot nicer if it was implemented as an option to have a more “detailed” mini player. I even stretched out the timeline to get it to fill the mini player but the original small timeline is also good on it’s own.

I kinda got carried away and realized that we can take this further. A lot of people have criticized plexamp for not being a true desktop music player as it’s meant to be a mobile first music player and just a desktop port. And while there is some desktop integration, I think we can take plexamp desktop a lot further especially since a lot of the interface has a lot of dead space.

So my idea is to add a side bar player that can be adjustable since it can take advantage to show flexible the scaling is.

 ![Large Side Player](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/6/7/5/67548dc442c2adbf780dada16ca6fca8400d9d4f.jpeg)

 ![Very Large Side player](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/3/9/7/3976468b6d1a70eef475625d460729b4dfae1b7d.jpeg)

 ![Side player with Queue](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/9/f/b/9fb23409ed29f02bb9e8ff7472a2deee9ee54284.jpeg)

I will be honest the “Very Large Side player” is a bit insane but it’s an option that is possible. Being able to see your full player on the side while browse your Library, either for finding another song to add to your queue, editing your playlists or just admiring how many artists you have in your collection. I just like being able to see both at the same time instead of switching between the player and menu. There is clearly more than enough room for this to work on desktop.

There are alot of desktop features I have in mind for Plexamp but I’m just going to keep them to myself for now cause they probably won’t be added but I feel like this is more feasible since all I did was just resize the plexamp and combine the windows into one.

for sure, i guess what I’m saying is that I would easily trade 1-2 tracks of space in album view, for the ability to scrub the timeline directly instead of having to enter a completely new view. proposing as an option of course, not to replace the current functionality.
