Hello!

plexamp on my samsung s21 keeps skipping some (or most or half) of my music that are in m4a container with fLaC codec. flac codec in flac container works perfectly.

i am not sure what causes the issue. though the codec is flac.

all tracks that were tested are 24 bits 96.0 kHz

these files are not corrupt as they play perfectly on all other non-android devices. i dont own a 2nd android phone to test.

also, i did play using the default music player, and it skips the same songs too. so the issue seems to be the phone not supporting, but why it only causes issue on certain music though everything is similar (some spec below)?

basically, i want plexamp to work as its my primary music player. is there a way for plex server to convert? or anything else?

Let me know if you need more information.

Edit: plex on android plays ALL songs seamlessly! inc the ones plexamp and samsung music skips on the same phone.

I don’t think that this is a beneficial situation for anyone except Apple. And even if you were a 100% Apple shop, you would be using ALAC instead.

Try a real .flac file.

The MP4 standard does not officially support FLAC. Convert the files to something legal. Plexamp uses Android built-in codecs in some cases which is why you’re seeing the same issues with the system player.

@elan @OttoKerner Thanks! I’ll see why some digitally bought media from the same source has flac in mp4 while most were flac-flac. i did have a few alac in mp4 which i converted but this…
