I bought an Apple tv 3 today so I can use Plexconnect. I tried to set it up and everything is fine except that it's not working :p The regular trailer app shows instead of Plexconnect   The DNS of my atv: 192.168.2.254 (also set in settings.py The DSN of my mac: 192.168.2.254 (also has plex media server installed)   IP of my atv: 192.168.2.4 IP of my mac: 192.168.2.1   PlexConnect : \*\*\* PlexConnect : PlexConnect PlexConnect : Press ENTER to shut down. PlexConnect : \*\*\* PlexConnect : IP\_self: 192.168.2.1 PlexGDM : \*\*\* PlexGDM : looking up Plex Media Server PlexGDM : \*\*\* PlexGDM : servers discovered: 2 DNSServer : \*\*\* DNSServer : Starting up. DNSServer : intercept trailers.apple.com: 192.168.2.1 DNSServer : forward other to higher level DNS: 192.168.2.254 DNSServer : \*\*\* WebServer : \*\*\* WebServer : WebServer: Serving HTTP on 0.0.0.0 port 80. WebServer : \*\*\*   I do have an atv 2 (jailbroken with plex) but I disconnected it to be sure nothing could go wrong.   Did I forget about something or did I do something wrong?   Thanks in advance ---

The “higher level DNS” should not be changed in settings.py unless you are using a DNS service like Unblockus. Otherwise leave it be (set at 8.8.8.8, google’ public DNS.) Also make sure your ATV itself is manually set to the same DNS as the computer running Plex Media Server. ---

Change the DNS on the Apple TV to the IP address of your Mac running the PlexConnect application (192.168.2.1 in your case). That should do the trick. ---

I had the same problem and tried institute11 & sander1’s suggestion, which worked once, but now it isn’t working. I get the ‘trailers unavailable’ message after a long time trying to connect. Additionally, after changing the DNS, I can’t access movies/connect to iTunes. I am positive I have the right DNS by the way. It hasn’t changed in the 10 or so hours since it worked earlier. ---

What is the contents of your settings.py file? Also do you have a DHCP reservation in your router for the machine that PlexConnect is running on, if not its IP may have changed? ---
