PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

Hi, I’m having a problem with PKC, I’m using it with ‘direct paths’ without any problem for a while now. Since a couple of days when new media is added it is not found by PKC, I get the known error “This file is no longer available…”. I can start the files trough the file browser or Plex Addon Context menu. All the other media works fine. You can find a log here: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/mz7wfdYBrH/

Here’s your problem (excerpt from the logs):

ERROR: InputStream: Error opening, smb://DESKTOP-DOPE/series/Hip-Hop%20Evolution/Season%2003/Hip-Hop%20Evolution%20-%20S03E02%20-%20Life%20After%20Death.mkv

Try this:

  • In the PKC settings under Customize Paths, deactivate Escape special characters in path.
  • Do a database reset in the PKC settings under Advanced (in red). Hit Yes, then No

Thank you very much!! That did the trick.

Can’t you just make it once then copy the guisettings.xml across to multiple clients?

Great plugin, thanks for your continued development.
Just wanted to add my voice (and have voted on the suggested features list) for hoping we can integrate the DVR and TV one day.
Seeing as we are getting decent guide data with our plex pass it seems a shame (and a lot of work for a UK user) to have to set up a separate solution in Kodi.

Failing that is there a way to somehow integrate the web guide view into Kodi as a seperate menu item or node?

Changelog

version 2.9.11:

  • version 2.9.10 for everyone

Hello,

Would it be possible to have an option for PKC to not ask about continuing to sync or not if a video file is no longer at the path in question? I’d like to be able leave KODI running all the time, yet the server that the files are on not running during the day.

Thx

Thank you very much for your plugin. I installed it and it works fine. I noticed that when listening to music there is a pause of about 15 seconds between each track. Is there a way to switch these pauses off or at least reduce them? Many thanks in advance!

Try to reduce this Kodi setting: https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Player/Music#Crossfade_between_songs

Thank you for pointing that out. Crossfading is not activated. I have tested it for 5, 10 and 15 seconds and the pauses became longer. As a test, I played the same music album on my tablet via the Plex App, and there were no pauses between the tracks.

Please share your Kodi DEBUG log after a restart and you playing a couple of songs (so the pauses are noticable), see How to Report A Bug · croneter/PlexKodiConnect Wiki · GitHub

Thank you so much for the quick answer.
Enclosed you find the Kodi.log file. The plex tokens I replaced.kodi.7z (1.4 MB)

Thanks! Let’s take this discussion to Github please: Song takes 15 seconds to start playing · Issue #1020 · croneter/PlexKodiConnect · GitHub

Kindly answer my questions there

Question regarding PKC, I have been using it for a while now and set up several collections. I have a couple of movies that I linked to 2 collections using PMS and they can be viewed in each collection using the main Plex app but only shows up in 1 collection using PKC. Also I changed the name of a collection and the change doesn’t show in PKC. Tried repairing the database in Advanced settings.

Any ideas?

Edit: I was able to get the change to the collection name to fix with sync but still can’t get a movie to show up in 2 collections.

i set up PKC on my Xbox One X and i got direct paths and direct play working on my setup. i’ve been playing around with PKC and noticed that to access Plex Extras, you need to open the context menu on an item and then click on Extras, which works great.

when i search for an item and view the search results, if i open the context menu on an item there is no Plex Options or Extras to click. is this a bug? is there someway to add the Plex Options/Extras to searched items? thanks.

Kodi does not support a video showing up in several collections. Sorry, there’s nothing I can do…

Unfortunately, no. Search is not a Kodi core functionality but handled by the Kodi add-on “globalsearch”. Globalsearch is responsible for showing the search results and the context menu you shared a screenshot of. Unfortunately, PKC cannot add to that functionality…

Try PKC BETA version 2.9.12. It has the menu option Search that should also give you extras…

Changelog

version 2.9.12 (beta only):

  • Fix resume not working in some cases
  • Support Plex search across all media and Plex Media Servers: Navigate to the PlexKodiConnect Add-on, then “Search”
  • Always use the current Kodi language when communicating with the PMS (restart Kodi when changing the language!)
  • Fix Kodi crashing when casting from e.g. Plex Web or Plex for Windows
  • Fix PKC throwing error if m3u playlist contains resume information

No worries just wanted to check that I wasn’t doing something wrong or missing a setting. Thanks!
