Hi. I have had a plex server running on an old windows laptop. But i recently bought a pc that i am using as a ubuntu server (with gui for my main tv). I am a complete noob at this, but i have tried to lookup the problem with no luck. Which PMS version did you install? If you’ve installed anything recent ( from plex.tv/downloads) the installer should have done a lot for you. 1. It will have setup the ser 2. It will have created all the directories for you 3. It will also have told you whether or not it started the service. 4. Lastly, it will have written a “plexinstaller.log” file in `/tmp` Can you show me what it reported during installation and/or what the installer log file has? ---

Would you consider downloading **current** version from Plex.tv/downloads ? 1.13.5 was the prototype packaging. Packaging is now fully production. Please uninstall any DEB package you have (your data is safe) Now install current. ---

May I see the console window output as well please? This shows the validation scan and installation warnings / errors if any are present. If there are no errors/warnings, the next will be to look at any logs in the`Logs` directory under `Plex Media Server` (tar.gz) ---

Sorry for the slow reply, life is a bit hectic these days. I tried to do a new install after a reboot, and it worked! so its running now, thanks for the help my good man. ---
