In my logs that I uploaded earlier, all the events should be within the last half hour of those logs.
As I recall, when I tried to setup a new DVR, it didn’t see my tuner & I had not observed an opportunity to add XML data.Where do we get the XML data from anyhow?
In Plex Media Server, if I go into settings, then Live TV & DVR, there is a pause of about 30 seconds, then I get this, (see uploaded image)
I am confused. If you are seeing the page you posted above, that means your DVR isn’t setup so I don’t see how you can see the guide to tune a channel or to record.
It’s like you have 2 servers with the same name running and they are conflicting with each other. Check your task manager and make sure you don’t have 2 copies of PMS running somehow.
I can verify I am seeing exactly the same symptoms in Australia with HD Homerun with the last two versions. Only way to get it working was to rollback.
I am concerned that I will lose EPG data in 4 days. Is there plans for a fix?
The DVR’s were set up… And somehow remain setup, but the latest Plex versions are badly broken fo Australian users.
And now that guide data is going away, we’re trying to setup the DVR to support new guide data (either through IceTV or our own XMLTV files) but because it is broken like this we cannot.
I’ve very confused by this. I’ll have a dig through your logs and see what I can find. I’m in Australia too, and was able to set up my HDHR just fine on the weekend.
I am having the same problem too after installing the last two BETA updates. Also in Australia. Live TV / DVR was working fine till then. Now all I get is the error message : “Unable to load DVRs” and a prompt to set up the DVR again but it cant find my tuner
This is the part that isn’t making sense to me. If it’s setup and you can use it, why are you setting up a new one? If you are being required to set a new one, because Plex can’t find your tuner, then the other DVR/LiveTV stuff should not be accessible at all. It can’t be both.
Right, but to set up a new tuner, you have to remove the old one. Are you trying to re-add the same tuner on-top of an existing setup? That won’t work. You have to remove the old one first. You can’t add the same tuner twice.
Yeah, what bit of “that function is broken” are you not getting? All the images that have been posted clearly show the error message “Unable to load DVRs”. It then dumps you to the setup DVR page.
You cannot remove a tuner, because it is showing as not found (despite having been setup previously). So you cannot add a new tuner, but you can’t remove one either.
Updated and Installed 1.16.1.1246 & now 1.16.1.1273 (Mac OS 10.13.6) and the DVR settings disappeared being unable to locate the DVR device and killed off the alternative EPG setup.
Due to the Plex decision to no longer provide a local EPG (Australia), and pointing members to a 3rd party monthly subscription provider, we have had to locate alternatives freEPG.tv .
Have rolled back to Version 1.16.0.1226 where the DVR device is visible & manageable again, allowing the free EPG to come back to life.
A Plex server update should not clear any local server settings, it appears that whatever changes being made to the Plex EPG free guide is trashing local settings, preventing continuous use of the server.
While Plex Employees may well believe it is working for them, it is clearly not the use case for the general populous and maybe some further unit testing is required before releasing another fix along with some clear instructions if there is a required procedure to make this EPG transition.
An approach not yet tried is to delete the current DVR, then apply the server update, and add back in the DVR again, which would then require setting up the free personal EPG, (non IceTV) - maybe the issue is the server not using a paid EPG subscription?
I can confirm in my instance at least rolling back to 1.16.0.1226, deleting the DVR configuration and then updating to 1.16.1.1273 again before completing the DVR configuration again successfully worked around the issue. It’s pretty clear the DVR being configured from a previous build, but not available/visible in 1.16.1.1273 is what’s blocking resolving this for those of us that were impacted.
Exactly same issue here. I had a 1010+ & a RS3411xs both running Plex and working fine with my HDHomerun. I updated the RS3411xs to 1.16.1.1246 and found as a Australian the EPG functionality was broken. After checking forums and emails found out about support for Australia being dropped and followed Plex advice and tried to setup XMLTV PROGRAMME GUIDE using IceTV. Followed instructions but there was no button to remove DVR device, got error message unable to load DVR’s and the interface was unable to detect my HDHomerun. After waiting around 30 seconds screen refreshed & I got interface to add new device.
Unfortunately this process fails because there is a pre existing setup. It seems to me two issues
1/ Failure to detect HDHomerun
2/ Missing remove device button
Just for interests sake I tried adding the XMLTV PROGRAMME GUIDE using IceTV on my 1010+ which runs an older version of PMS and everything worked exactly as it should have. In other words it detected my HDHomerun and the interface showed the remove device button. After removing existing device I was able to proceed without issue.
I have the same issue as well (USA Central)
Version 1.16.0.1226 of media server running on Ubuntu
Trying to setup a brand new HDHomerun Extend.
The device appears initially then vanishes from the list of new DVRs
Restarting plexmediaserver lets it show up just long enough to complete the install.
As soon as the guide finishes refreshing I can start watching live TV, but the DVR/LiveTV settings show HDHomeRun EXTEND 192.168.1.xxx Device not found. Ensure your device is powered on and connected to your network.
So I cannot change transcode settings but can watch live TV, so its definitely connected.
[edit]
Just restarted the plexmediaserver service again and was able to go and validate transcode config.
Just trying to record again now. Live TV still works.
