PMS 1.14.1.5488 Crashing frequently on Windows

Good evening. Any updates on this?

It is still in QA - sorry. Not ready to make available.

Please ensure debug logging is enabled. See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
and on the same Advanced general settings page, ensure crash reporting is enabled.

Restart the server to get fresh logs created and on next crash, relaunch the server and download the logs zip. See https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

And please upload the logs zip here.

Thank you

This forum needs a frown emoji on the comment itself instead of just a :slightly_frowning_face:

I installed version 1.15.0.647 this morning, enabled automatic library scanning and trash emptying and got a crash after a few hours.

I have been running the server on the previous version with these disabled over the past few weeks with only 2 crashes. These crashes occurred after doing manual scans after adding content to the server.

I am not sure if the new version addresses my specific issue, but here are the log files from today:

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-02-06_10-48-42.zip (3.9 MB)

Plex Media Server VMMap 020619.zip (2.3 MB)

I just got another big crash since the last report an hour ago. Wild memory swings on VMMap.

Plex Media (4.0 MB)

Plex Media Server VMMap_2019-02-06_12-20-05.zip (11.3 MB)

To install or not to install 1.15.0.647…that is the question…

Ya, all those claims about “it’s in QA” seem to have been a lark

I don’t have a problem with changing their mind on the dev release. If they thought it would be ready, but it wasn’t…that happens.

My bigger issues is with the fact I can ONLY download the newer build through the server itself. The Plex download page still has 5488 on it…:frowning:

@ianb2323

1.15.0.647 has been released as beta. It has a fix for the crash observed on your server

Release note Plex Media Server

  • (DVR) Avoid a few crashes around parsing bad JSON from OnConnect (#8889)

So you are referring to MY crashes, similar to the OP?

It’s installed now. I’ll keep an eye on it…thanks!

I have not got to your crash yet but I believe it is corrected as well. The crash I referred to is one that was encountered by ianb2323

The memory usage issue fixes are still being worked on and are not part of 1.15.0.647

This specific crash caused by memory spikes is not fixed yet

I can’t download the new beta version from the plex website. Can you send me a copy?

Ok, good. I was concerned because it seems worse now. I will disable the scanning and wait patiently. Thanks!

The web site download page issue is being looked into

You could download it via the web Plex Media Server auto update interface by setting the update channel to beta (settings / server / general / show advanced)

The install doesn’t work for me from the UI.
I found the package here:
C:\Users*\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates\1.15.0.647-67e950f12\packages

Thanks for looking - yes that would be where it gets downloaded

There is now a new build 1.15.0.659 and the release note has link to downloads
