PMS using file name instead of the Movie Title

Hello guys,

I don’t know if this is a basic info and I’m not being able to figure it out myself, but I’m facing some problems with Movies database and having to fix italways manually.

Yesterday I added a Movie into my Movie library folder, it is the movie “Inception”. The PMS identifiy the movie corretly but it’s named with the filename.

Ex: Inception.2010.1080p.BluRay.H264.AAC-RARBG

Is there any kind of config I can set so Plex will get the name of the movie instead the file name?

Thanks!

Yep with Plex you really need to follow the naming guide. Oh and it really hates dots.
Inception (2010)
Inception (2010).mkv
You can have anything else you like in the filename inside squared brackets [……]
Anything in there Plex will ignore.
Plex is stricter still with Shows

If you have lots of files to rename then Filebot will help.

Check that the media doesn’t have a Title TAG

Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

Afterwards, Refresh Metadata on the affected videos.
